Mountaineers successfully defended their Logan Cup title with a commanding 358-run victory over Eagles at Mutare Sports Club on Friday, with young leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa emerging as the hero of the day after claiming a five-wicket haul.
Both batters fell early, with Welch dismissed for 82 and Maruma for 71, but the Masakadza brothers carried on the momentum, putting together a 54-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Among the Eagles bowlers, only Alex Falao had something to cheer about, finishing with impressive figures of five for 57.
Set a daunting target of 501 for victory, Eagles quickly found themselves in trouble as Victor Nyauchi tore through their top order, reducing them to 15 for three.
Kudzai Maunze (51) and Wessly Madhevere (47) showed some resistance, putting together a 77-run stand for the fourth wicket.
Tadiwanashe Marumani also battled hard for his 16, but once Masekesa bowled him, the end came swiftly.

Nyauchi, who bowled just five overs in his opening spell, ended with remarkable figures of three for five.

Day 3 – Stumps: Southern Rocks lead by 248 runs
Excellent maiden fifties from young talents Panashe Taruvinga and Newman Nyamhuri were the standout performances in Southern Rocks’ determined second-innings fightback against Tuskers at Queens Sports Club on Friday.
Trailing by 62 runs after the first innings, Rocks batted resolutely throughout the day, closing with a lead of 248 and one wicket in hand.
Resuming on 38 for one, Rocks suffered an early setback when Nigel Bonyongwe fell without adding to his overnight 10.
However, Taruvinga showed great application, compiling a well-crafted 78 off 160 balls, featuring 10 fours and a six.
He found solid support in Roy Kaia, who played fluently for 59 off 96 balls before departing as the seventh wicket with the score at 201.
Nyamhuri then took charge, building a valuable 67-run partnership with Takudzwa Chataira (32).
Even after the ninth wicket fell at 277, he remained composed, guiding the total to 310 for nine at stumps alongside Tinaye Mazonde.
Nyamhuri finished the day unbeaten on 90, raising hopes of a maiden century.
With Rocks now leading by 248, an exciting conclusion awaits on the fourth and final day.
