Tuskers – 122 all out in 42.4 overs (Adrian Mupembe 26, Aliakbar Hamid 23, Bright Phiri 23; Alex Russell 5/38, Hamza Sajjad 2/15, Tapiwa Mufudza 2/30)

Eagles – 109-2 in 30.2 overs (Nick Welch 37, Matthew Welch 28, Kudzai Maunze 26*; Tinotenda Maposa 2/37)

A bright innings by Nick Welch was perhaps the only memorable feature of a short day’s play in the Logan Cup match between Eagles and Tuskers at Old Hararians Sports Club on Thursday.

Only 25.2 overs could be bowled, mostly in the afternoon, due to rain and later bad light.

Eagles began on 18 for no wicket, with Larvet Masuku on two and Matthew Welch on 15.

Matthew moved to 28 out of 33 before he was bowled by Tinotenda Maposa, which brought in his brother Nick.

Soon afterwards Masunda retired hurt for four, scored laboriously off 42 balls.

Nick scored fluently to make 37 off 43 balls before he was caught off Maposa, the second man out at 92.

Before the rain fell again, Kudzai Maunze with 26 and Chamu Chibhabha with 10, both unbeaten, took the score to 109 for two wickets, within easy reach of the Tuskers first-innings score of 122.

Again, no play at all was possible at Takashinga Cricket Club where Mega Market Mountaineers and Rocks are scheduled to meet.
