Southern Rocks – 322-9 in 97.3 overs (Matthew Campbell 122, Roy Kaia 44, William Mashinge 36; Alex Russell 4/90, Wallace Mubayiwa 3/73, Faraz Akram 1/40)

Day 2 – Stumps
No other batter reached fifty, but at stumps Rocks had battled their way to a gritty total of 322 for nine wickets.
Eagles put Rocks in to bat after winning the toss, and Campbell opened the batting with Innocent Kaia.
Their opening stand registered only 23 runs, however, before Kaia was out lbw to Alex Falao for 14.
The best partnership of the innings then followed, as Roy Kaia joined Campbell and scored 44 as they added 79 together in 83 minutes.
Campbell received support from a series of useful partners, with the middle order making valuable contributions, though none managed to stay at the crease for long.
His brother Johnathan Campbell made 32, Ryan Higgins 21, Tafadzwa Tsiga 21 and Panashe Taruvinga 19.
Tsiga was Campbell’s partner as he reached his coveted century, and he was finally seventh man out at 271.
He faced 214 balls and hit 14 fours, a memorable innings for him of great application.
After he left, William Mashinge scored 36 and play ended with the fall of Cuthbert Musoko’s wicket for one.
The captain, Richmond Mutumbami, was still at the crease, unusually subdued as he scored nine not out off 58 balls.
The most effective bowlers were the spinners, with Englishman Alex Russell claiming four wickets with his leg-breaks, while local talent Wallace Mubayiwa impressed with three from his slow left-arm deliveries.
Unfortunately, no play has yet been possible in the match between Tuskers and Rhinos at Bulawayo Athletic Club due to heavy rain.
